How does the maximum drawdown work?
The maximum drawdown is 4% of your account size and moves up as your account makes new highs.
Updated November 1, 2026
The maximum drawdown is the maximum amount your account can lose. On every Winbance program it is 4% of your account size. If your account reaches this limit, the account is breached.
Maximum drawdown by account size
| Account size | Maximum drawdown | Starting drawdown limit |
|---|---|---|
| 10K | $400 | $9,600 |
| 15K | $600 | $14,400 |
| 25K | $1,000 | $24,000 |
| 50K | $2,000 | $48,000 |
| 100K | $4,000 | $96,000 |
| 150K | $6,000 | $144,000 |
The drawdown limit moves up with your profits
Your drawdown limit is not fixed. As your account makes new highs, the limit moves up and always stays 4% below your highest level. This protects the profits you have already made.
Example on a 50K account: your limit starts at $48,000. If your account reaches $51,000, the limit moves up to $49,000.
Two types of drawdown
| Type | Programs | When the limit is updated |
|---|---|---|
| Intraday trailing | Challenge Flex | In real time, including open positions |
| End of day | Challenge Edge, Direct Pass, Freedom | Only at the close of each session |
You will find the full explanation with examples in Flex vs Edge: how the drawdown differs.
What happens if I reach the limit?
If your equity touches the drawdown limit, your account is breached: open positions are closed and the account can no longer be traded. Challenges can be reset at a reduced price.
